WebAlso in a self defense situation in almost all circumstances the person is not expecting to be thrown. That is not the case when doing randori with a BJJ guy. Sport BJJ's rules give zero incentive to actually throw or takedown. It's the hardest 2 points to achieve in BJJ so pulling guard in this situation makes the most sense.
